It all starts with a family story, a legend even...
My grandmother, who got it from her mother, who herself got it from her mother, used to put Marseille soap in the sheets at the foot of her bed.
This ritual has always intrigued me.
After doing some research, I found the explanation for this astonishing custom: mixing vegetable oils has the virtue of preventing many ailments:
- night cramps
- rheumatism, osteoarthritis
How does it work?
Night cramps and rheumatism are generally due to a lack of intracellular potassium.
Authentic Marseille soap contains potassium chloride.
How do you set it up?
- Take a block of Marseille soap
- Our advice: Put the soap in a nylon stocking or thin cloth to avoid soiling the sheets.
- Place it on the mattress (on the sheet) at foot level
By placing it in this area, the Marseille soap will, thanks to the warmth of the bed and the body, release this component. It will then be deposited on the epidermis, reducing the pain.
